Emmanuel Macron to Make State Visit to Nigeria This Fall

Emmanuel Macron to Make State Visit to Nigeria This Fall

The French Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Marc Fonbaustier, has announced that President Emmanuel Macron will undertake a State visit to Nigeria later this year. Speaking at France’s National Day celebration in Abuja, the envoy said Macron’s trip comes two years after President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Paris. He described it as a chance to review the strategic partnership and set priorities for future cooperation. Fonbaustier highlighted equality as the cornerstone of Franco-Nigerian ties and praised shared goals in economic growth, job creation, and environmental protection. He said both countries will work together to improve living standards while respecting biodiversity and natural resources.

It's notable that this visit comes two years after Macron's last engagement. Nigeria's evolving political landscape could influence bilateral priorities significantly.
