Shawne Merriman Ordered to Pay $4m in Wrongful-Death Case
Former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman and three other defendants have been ordered by a Los Angeles judge to pay $4 million to the family of Kimberly Fattorini, who died after a night out in 2017. Fattorini’s parents sued in 2019, alleging that she was drugged before her overdose. A jury found Merriman and the other defendants liable in 2025. Merriman has denied the allegations, while his lawyer said a police investigation found no evidence of criminal culpability. Fattorini’s death was ruled accidental. Toxicology reports found alcohol, cocaine and GHB in her system. The court did not hold the nightclubs named in the suit liable for damages.
