Federal Workers Back ₦500 Petrol Demand, Signal Support for Three-Day Strike
Federal workers have backed organised labour’s demand for petrol to sell at ₦500 per litre. They say any reduction should also affect the prices of kerosene, diesel and cooking gas. The Federal Workers Forum said members should prepare to join a proposed three-day warning strike if the government does not respond to workers’ concerns. The group also wants the ₦70,000 minimum wage fully implemented, including outstanding adjustments and allowances. The workers are demanding a cost-of-living allowance, a review of federal salaries and continued public funding for unity colleges. They also want a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on workers’ welfare, productivity and the rising cost of living.
