Nigerian Ex-Care Worker Jailed Eight Years in UK for Robbing Former Vulnerable Clients
A Nigerian former care worker, Ediongseyene Essien, has been sentenced to eight years in prison in the UK for burglary and robbery offences against elderly and vulnerable people, including former clients. Liverpool Crown Court sentenced the 32-year-old to three years for burglary and five years for robbery, to run consecutively. Police said he carried out four burglaries in Liverpool after being suspended from his care job over theft allegations. He was later linked to two robberies involving vulnerable victims, including a man with health conditions and a woman using a walking stick. A restraining order was issued to protect six victims, and he is expected to be deported after serving part of his sentence.
