Scam Alert: I Lost ₦16,600 After Suspected Malicious App Took Over My Phone
I want to warn others after a suspected malicious app caused an alarming incident on my phone. I had installed an app called PIKZZLE after seeing it on Facebook. While trying to make a transaction on my GTBank app, my phone suddenly displayed a fake-looking system update and repeatedly asked for my fingerprint. The phone became unresponsive, and I later discovered that ₦16,600 had been transferred from my account. I also found that a ₦175,000 QuickCredit loan had been taken through my banking app. I believe the fake update screen and fingerprint prompts were used to authorise transactions while I could not access my phone. Please avoid installing apps you do not fully trust. Download only from official app stores, review app permissions carefully, and contact your bank immediately if you notice unusual activity on your device or account.
