Okpebholo Says Nigerian Petrol Prices Are Lower Than UK Rates

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo says Nigerians paying about ₦1,400 per litre for petrol are better off than motorists in the United Kingdom, where he said a litre costs more than ₦3,000 after currency conversion. Speaking on September 24 at the Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road event, Okpebholo said he bought petrol during a recent visit to London to compare prices. The governor said President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms were difficult but would eventually yield results. His comments come as Nigerians continue to raise concerns about higher fuel and living costs following the removal of the petrol subsidy.
