15-Year-Old Boy Faces Murder Charge After Father Found Dead on Cocoa Farm
A Liberian teenager has been arrested after his father, a government schoolteacher, was found dead on their cocoa farm in Lofa County. The son returned to town alone and claimed his father chased him with a cutlass before accidentally cutting his own neck. Police investigators found wounds on the victim’s chin and neck inconsistent with that account. Family members say the dispute began when the father discovered his son had swapped his better cocoa harvest for rotten beans. An argument ensued, and the boy allegedly struck his father with an axe. The body has been released for burial while the accused remains in custody. In a public message, the teenager’s sister expressed her grief and accused him of betrayal, saying “Daddy loved you with all his heart, all you could do is put everlasting pain in my heart.”
