Adamawa Quranic Teacher Remanded Over Alleged Sexual Assault of Two Girls
A 38-year-old Quranic teacher, Sagir Sani, has been remanded by a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Yola over allegations involving two female pupils aged eight and nine. Police alleged that the incident occurred during Quranic recitation classes in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The case was reported by the mother of one of the girls on August 7, 2026. Sani was arraigned on charges including indecent treatment, sexual assault and defilement. He pleaded not guilty, while the court ordered his remand pending further proceedings and legal advice from the state Department of Public Prosecutions.
