Abia Innovator Wins ₦100m at InnovateNaija for Smart Poultry Climate System
Adaeze Ruth Akpagbula, co-founder of Farm Speak, has won the ₦100 million top prize at the 2026 InnovateNaija Final Pitch Event in Abuja. Her PenKeep Smart Poultry Climate Control System is designed to help farmers manage climate-related risks in poultry, aquaculture, greenhouses and irrigation. The NASENI and AfriLabs programme reached more than 3,500 young Nigerians across the 36 states and the FCT. It produced 36 state champions, while the top three national finalists received ₦100 million, ₦30 million and ₦20 million respectively. Akpagbula said the funding would help expand production and make the technology available to more farmers. The initiative also offers mentorship, technical support, market access and investor connections to help locally developed solutions move from prototypes to commercial products. The Federal Government says it is pursuing stronger research funding and commercialisation pathways so Nigerian innovators can build solutions suited to local infrastructure, climate conditions and consumer needs.
