My Troubled Start in Malaysia After Leaving Nigeria in 2016

In 2016, my interior-design business was declining, and I felt I lacked the support needed to recover. After completing my National Diploma in Computer Science Technology, I became determined to leave Nigeria. My attempts to secure a Hong Kong visa failed, so I chose Malaysia, where my cousin was living. Although he advised me to wait for a student visa, I travelled on a social visa because I was desperate to leave quickly. I arrived in Kuala Lumpur after a long journey and spent two days at the airport over a supposed immigration clearance issue. Later, my relatives told me that the visa I travelled with was not valid, leaving me afraid to go outside. After weeks indoors, I began going out and joined an African football team. But on my way to an away match, I panicked when I saw police officers approaching and ran back into my estate. That was only the beginning of my difficult experience in Malaysia.
