Businessman Sentenced to Mosque Cleanup for Stealing N2 Million Cables
A Magistrates’ Court in Abuja has ordered businessman Musa Ibrahim to sweep Amir Mosque in Wuse II for one month after he pleaded guilty to stealing electrical cables. Magistrate Lami Sani handed down the sentence on Tuesday following charges of mischief and theft. Prosecution counsel A.A. Adeleju told the court that Ibrahim entered the mosque on March 5 under the guise of collecting Ramadan food. While other worshippers queued for the meal at the front, Ibrahim sneaked in through the back door and removed cables worth N2 million. During police investigations, Ibrahim confessed to the crime. He begged for leniency at sentencing and promised never to reoffend.
