EFCC Arraigns ALSCON, Russian Director Over Alleged ₦582m Money-Laundering Breach
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria and its director, Zavyalov Dmitry, before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged money-laundering offences involving ₦582.43 million. The EFCC alleged that the company failed to report several large transfers made between March and July 2024 to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering, as required by law. The payments reportedly included transfers to Udatson Nigeria, Urico Global Services and an individual. ALSCON’s acting managing director, Ime Monday Inyang, pleaded not guilty to the six-count amended charge on behalf of the company. The court adjourned the case until 27 January 2027 for trial to begin.
