Court Ruling Opens Door for PDP Unity, Says FCT Minister Wike
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike says the Court of Appeal’s nullification of the PDP national convention in Ibadan is a fresh chance to rebuild the party. He noted the convention failed to meet constitutional and Electoral Act requirements, including valid state congresses and proper INEC notification. Wike stressed that no one, regardless of position or power, can bypass the law. He welcomed the ruling as a timely reminder of the supremacy of due process and the rule of law in party affairs. To move forward, the PDP has formed a National Caretaker Committee to bridge the gap until a new convention. The party plans to hold a lawful national convention on March 29–30, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium to elect new officers.
