Veteran Kannywood actress Wasila Isma’il has passed away at 46 after a prolonged illness. She breathed her last at FOMWAN Hospital in Kaduna, as confirmed by her former husband. Born in Kaduna, Wasila made her debut in 1998’s Jinin Masoya. She gained national recognition in 1999 when she starred in the film Wasila alongside Ali Nuhu and went on to build a respected career in the Hausa film industry. In a past interview, she shared why she asked to change a film’s title from Jamila to Wasila, fearing the original name might affect her reputation.
