NAF Helicopter Makes Precautionary Landing on Benue Farmland After Anti-Kidnap Mission
A Nigerian Air Force helicopter made a precautionary landing on farmland in Utur Tse-Igboji community, Makurdi, Benue State, after a combat mission targeting suspected kidnappers. The aircraft had provided close air support to troops during an operation in Ogbadigbo Local Government Area near the Benue-Enugu boundary. The pilot landed about 10 nautical miles from the airfield while returning to base, in line with safety procedures, according to the Air Force. The NAF said the helicopter later returned safely to base. It added that the operation disrupted suspected kidnappers and supported troops advancing on the ground. The incident came days after the deadly crash of a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft in Igbokoda, Ondo State, which prompted a national mourning period and an investigation.
