Keyamo Challenges Atiku Over Nigeria Airways Workers’ Unpaid Benefits
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has criticised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over his assessment of President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the economy. Keyamo said the Obasanjo-Atiku administration liquidated Nigeria Airways in 2004, leaving thousands of workers without jobs and with unpaid pensions and gratuities. He alleged that the entitlements remained outstanding for years. According to Keyamo, the Tinubu administration approved ₦36 billion to settle the former workers’ benefits, and payments have begun. His comments followed Atiku’s call for Nigerians to obtain their voter cards ahead of the 2027 elections and his criticism of rising living costs and insecurity.
