ISWAP Reportedly Executes Shura Council Member Over Defiance
ISWAP has reportedly executed Yaa Saleh, a senior member of its Shura Council, after accusing him of repeatedly disobeying directives from the group’s leader, Baa Shuwa. Yaa Saleh was reportedly the group’s Zakkah Amir and oversaw operations around Gudumbali, Kareto and Gubio in Borno State. The alleged execution followed internal tensions and the reported deaths of three other prominent fighters in the area. The group has also reportedly reshuffled its leadership in the Lake Chad region. Yaku Abu Adam was moved into a senior Jaish role, while Abubakar Bashihuba took over responsibilities in Buduma-dominated enclaves. Security sources believe the move may be linked to concerns that Yaku could defect or surrender.
