Where Is the “It Will Favour Me and My Family” Crowd Now?
People often seem surprised when the consequences of their choices catch up with them. I still wonder why some make those choices without considering what might follow. Since 2015, Nigerians have watched the country’s direction and debated what choices could change it. Yet some people, in my view, chose religion over competence and repeated, “It will favour me and my family.” I wonder whether they were trying to convince themselves or God. I know some people now living in IDP camps may have supported choices shaped by religion rather than competence. I believe it is not too late to change course. But if people continue to put tribe and religion ahead of the country’s future, I wish them the best.
