Kidnappers Still Hold Pastor’s Wife in Kwara Despite N20m Ransom
Sunday Omole, pastor of the Evangelical Church of West Africa in Omugo, says gunmen refused to free his wife and other captives after collecting a N20 million ransom and several supplies. He adds that the abductors received rice, petrol, red oil and seasoning but now demand N300 million to release the remaining victims. It has been nearly a month since the initial payment with no one freed. The attack took place on March 22 during a church service. Some worshippers were rescued in security operations, but many remain in forest hideouts across Kwara, Kogi and Niger. The pastor has suspended services, left the community and is urging the Federal Government to launch a major military operation to flush out the kidnappers.
