Enugu Arrests Three Over Affa Church Kidnapping as Remaining Victims Regain Freedom
Security operatives in Enugu State have arrested three suspects linked to the August 2 kidnapping at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Inoyi-Affa, Udi LGA. The remaining two victims, seminarian Lawrence Igbo and Emmanuel Onwudi, have regained their freedom. Officials said one suspect was killed during a gun battle. Security teams recovered ransom money, four AK-47 rifles, seven magazines and 133 rounds of ammunition from the gang’s hideouts. Governor Peter Mbah said the operation involved the DSS, Nigerian Army, Police and Enugu State Forest Guard. He said the state would continue to pursue kidnappers and anyone accused of aiding them.
