Troops, CJTF Arrest ISWAP Informant Linked to June Gubio Attack
Troops of the 149 Battalion and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force detained a suspected ISWAP informant in Gubio Local Government Area, Borno State. Security sources say the arrest took place around 5 p.m. on July 14, 2026 during an intelligence-led operation. The suspect confessed to passing information to insurgents and leading the June 16 attack on Gubio that killed a CJTF member. He remains in custody as investigators with Operation HADIN KAI probe his links to the terrorist network. Authorities hope his testimony will expose other collaborators and details of the June assault.
