Gunmen Kill Eight, Torch Six Homes in Abacheke Community, Imo State
Unidentified gunmen stormed a security checkpoint in Abacheke community, Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Imo State, on Saturday. Witnesses say the attackers opened fire, killing eight people, including a security operative. After the raid, the assailants set fire to at least six houses. Panicked residents fled their homes amid the violence and fear of a repeat attack. It remains unclear whether the assault was linked to the pro-Biafra sit-at-home order for Biafra Day or if the gunmen pursued a different objective. Attempts to get a comment from the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
