Tukur Questions Zamfara LG Spending, Faults Lawal’s Administration Plan

Former Zamfara governorship aspirant Sulaiman Tukur has criticised the state’s 14 local government chairmen, questioning the projects they have delivered after nearly two years in office. Tukur said councils reportedly receive between ₦20 million and ₦60 million monthly from allocations routed through the joint account. He argued that even ₦20 million could fund practical ward-level projects, including solar-powered boreholes, clinic ward renovations and culverts. He said no local government in the state has more than 11 wards and argued that a chairman could deliver at least one meaningful project in a different ward each month. Tukur also criticised some chairmen’s overseas trips, saying local revenue-generation and development ideas should be implemented at home. He further accused Governor Dauda Lawal of failing to establish a clear framework for local government administration and a wider state development plan. These claims represent Tukur’s views and allegations.
