EFCC Chair Says Public Officers Steal Public Funds Every Minute

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede says the commission receives more than 20,000 petitions on public-sector corruption each year. Speaking in Abuja at the 80th birthday celebration of former Attorney-General of the Federation Kanu Agabi, Olukoyede said the scale of alleged theft in many case files is alarming. He said Nigerians are the victims when public resources are diverted. According to him, some officials take office with little money in their accounts but accumulate millions of dollars and hundreds of properties within a few years. He called for stronger accountability and transparency in public service.
