Boko Haram Member Sentenced to Death in Abuja for Multiple Terror Attacks
The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Samaila, a confessed Boko Haram operative, to death by hanging. He pleaded guilty to six terrorism charges, including transporting female suicide bombers and participating in attacks across Borno and Adamawa States. Between 2012 and 2017, Samaila admitted receiving weapons training and fighting in Damboa, Gombi and Hong. He also confessed to aiding suicide missions in Maiduguri and other towns, an effort that left many civilians and military personnel dead. The judge remarked on the absence of remorse despite the scale of the atrocities. In related rulings, two other Boko Haram members received life imprisonment, while three suspects were jailed for terms ranging from 20 to 21 years. The sentences follow their guilty pleas to similar terrorism offences.
