Kenneth Okonkwo: Opposition Coalition Is Key to Defeating Tinubu in 2027

Kenneth Okonkwo says opposition parties must form a broad coalition to stand a realistic chance of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in an interview, Okonkwo argued that Peter Obi would struggle to defeat Tinubu if he runs without a wider alliance. He said Obi’s support in northern Nigeria, particularly Kano, would remain a major challenge even with Rabiu Kwankwaso on the ticket. Okonkwo also questioned Kwankwaso’s electoral value, claiming the former Kano governor would add little to a joint ticket. His comments come as opposition leaders explore possible alliances ahead of the 2027 election.
