Lagos Police to Arrest Officers and Impersonators Driving Commercial Vehicles in Uniform

Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani says the command will intensify enforcement against police officers found driving commercial vehicles or motorcycles while in uniform. He said the practice damages the image of the security services. The command will issue fresh directives to divisional police officers to arrest anyone violating the rule or illegally wearing police uniforms. Tijani added that many people seen in uniform while operating commercial vehicles are not serving officers. He said they may be dismissed personnel or impersonators, and urged residents to report them for prompt investigation. The move follows concerns that the growing misuse of security uniforms could undermine public trust in the police.
