Akure Ponmo Seller Arraigned Over Alleged Faecal Contamination
A ponmo seller in Akure has been arraigned over alleged environmental and sanitation offences linked to her cow-skin processing business. Authorities alleged that faecal matter was kept near the ponmo and that the premises were unhygienic, produced offensive odours and fumes, and failed to comply with sanitation regulations. These are allegations before the court, not established findings of guilt. The seller was also accused of continuing to operate after receiving an abatement notice. The case was adjourned until Monday, 9 November 2026. The report says she fainted after hearing that she could be remanded at Olokuta Correctional Centre.
