Kaduna Police Rescue 75 Travellers Abducted in Birnin Gwari
The Kaduna State Police Command says it has rescued 75 travellers abducted by armed men at Folwaya Village near Birnin Gwari on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The victims, including men, women and children travelling in commercial buses, were reportedly taken into a forest and hidden in a cave in a mountainous area. Police said they acted after receiving information from the Birnin Gwari branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers. A police team from the Birnin Gwari Area Command reportedly moved to the location, prompting the abductors to flee and abandon the captives. All 75 victims were rescued unharmed, according to the command. The Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain vigilant, share timely information with security agencies and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
