Court Jails Borno Motorcycle Repairer for Withholding Information on Boko Haram Activities
The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Mustapha Modu, a 50-year-old motorcycle repairer from Borno State, to 11 years in prison. Modu pleaded guilty to withholding information that could have helped security agencies arrest and prosecute Boko Haram members. He was initially charged with membership of the proscribed group, repairing motorcycles for its members and failing to report their activities. The court ordered that the sentence should take effect from 2016, when he was arrested by the Department of State Services. The Ministry of Interior will decide the correctional facility where he will serve the term.
