Kogi LG Officials, Youth Advocates Trained on Inclusive Budgeting and Project Monitoring
Mentor-Box Foundation, with support from the Nigeria Youth Future Fund, has trained local government officials and youth advocates in Kogi State on gender- and disability-responsive budgeting. The October 23 workshop in Lokoja brought together 21 youth accountability cluster members, Directors of Local Government and finance officers. Participants learned how to review budget allocations, capital expenditure releases and project implementation. Facilitators also stressed the need for accessible primary healthcare centres and other public facilities that consider the safety and needs of persons with disabilities. The programme introduced an inclusive budget scorecard for youth monitors to assess projects across targeted local government areas and engage councils on public spending.
