DSS Arrests Faisal Maina, Hands Him Over to EFCC to Serve 14-Year Sentence
The Department of State Services has arrested Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina and handed him over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Faisal, son of former Pension Reform Task Team chairman Abdulrasheed Maina, had reportedly been on the run since 2020 after violating his bail conditions. Security sources said he was traced and arrested in the Karsana area of Abuja after intelligence indicated he had returned to Nigeria. He was convicted in absentia in 2021 on charges of money laundering and conspiracy and sentenced to 14 years in prison. The court ordered his arrest and remand whenever he was found in Nigeria so he could serve the sentence.
