Nigeria Should Turn UN Advocacy Into Real Gains for Citizens, Says Jimoh Ibrahim

Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has called for reforms that would give African countries and other developing nations a stronger voice in global decision-making. He said Nigeria should continue pressing for greater African representation on the UN Security Council and other international institutions. He added that the country’s position should promote equality among nations, peace, poverty reduction and human rights. Ibrahim also said Nigeria’s participation at the UN must deliver practical benefits at home. He urged the government to use international engagements to build partnerships, attract investment and create opportunities that address the cost of living, education, technology and economic development.
