Bayelsa Community Alleges Crusade Scam as 26 Phones Go Missing in Emayel 1 — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Residents of Emayel 1 in Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State, have alleged that a group posing as Christian ministers used a five-day crusade to defraud members of the community. According to the account, the group arrived on 28 August 2026 and obtained permission from the community CDC chairman to hold a crusade at the secondary school. Attendees were reportedly given frightening prophecies, encouraged to pay for spiritual solutions, and sold “miracle soap” for ₦3,800. On the final day, worshippers were allegedly asked to hand over their phones to avoid interruptions during prayers. The organisers reportedly left the venue and did not return. Residents say 26 phones, including 24 Android devices and two iPhones, were taken. The community is calling on security agencies to investigate the allegations and warn nearby communities, including Elebele, Otuoke and Kolo, to remain vigilant. The claims and identities circulating online should be independently verified by the authorities.
