Zelensky’s Plane Reportedly Narrowly Avoids Drone Strike Ahead of Norway Visit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s aircraft was reportedly nearly hit by a drone as it prepared to leave Moldova for Norway, according to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. Zelensky travelled to Oslo for the funeral of King Harald and later continued to Canada. He reportedly told Støre he had received news of fresh Russian missile strikes on Ukraine and had not slept well. The visit included talks on Ukraine’s air-defence needs and a proposed European anti-ballistic missile system. The reported near-miss came as Russian drone attacks killed and injured civilians in several Ukrainian cities, while Zelensky said Ukrainian forces had struck targets inside Russia. US President Donald Trump also said he had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin and suggested a deal to end the war could be possible.
