NBS Data: Taraba Records Lowest Inflation as Lagos Ranks 30th
Taraba recorded Nigeria’s lowest annual headline inflation rate in September 2026 at 1.8%, according to Consumer Price Index data released by the National Bureau of Statistics. Bauchi, Adamawa, Borno, Kebbi, Jigawa, Gombe, Yobe, Kogi and Sokoto completed the 10 states with the lowest annual inflation rates. Nigeria’s headline inflation declined from 15.39% in August to 14.63% in September. Food inflation, however, rose slightly from 19.57% to 19.59%, showing that food costs remained a major pressure on household budgets. The ranking measures where prices increased the least over the past 12 months. It does not necessarily mean those states have the lowest overall cost of living. Lagos ranked 30th, with headline inflation at 17.3% and food inflation at 34.4%.
