Ondo Urged to Build a Technology-Driven State Police System

An Ondo State stakeholder has urged the state to prepare early for state policing as the constitutional amendment process advances. He said Ondo should go beyond legislative approval and begin planning a security model suited to its communities, forest corridors and evolving threats. He proposed an integrated command-and-control centre that could coordinate intelligence, emergency communication, surveillance and rapid response. Suggested tools include crime mapping, lawful video analytics, number-plate recognition, drones and early-warning systems. He added that any technology-led police service must operate under clear laws, privacy safeguards, professional standards and civilian oversight. He called for collaboration among government, security agencies, communities, traditional institutions and technology professionals.
