Peter Obi Proposes Parallel Polling-Unit Results Transmission for 2027
Peter Obi says his team plans to deploy an independent system to receive and verify results from every polling unit during the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in an interview with a television news outlet, Obi said the system would run alongside INEC’s official results transmission process. It would allow his team to compare polling-unit results with figures later announced at other stages of the election. He said the aim is to ensure votes are counted, recorded and transmitted accurately, while giving the public greater confidence that declared results reflect what was recorded at polling units. Obi added that other organisations may also establish independent election-monitoring systems.
