Keke Riders Protest in Awka After Colleague Is Swept Away by Flood

Commercial tricycle riders in Awka, Anambra State, protested after a colleague was swept away by floodwater during heavy rainfall. The rider reportedly tried to rescue a woman who had fallen into a gutter near Book Foundation in Ifite, Awka, on September 7. He was also pulled into the gutter by the flood. His body was reportedly recovered the following morning near Miracle Junction, close to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and taken to a mortuary. Protesters marched with leaves, sang solidarity songs and drove tricycles through the area, disrupting transport services.
