My Beard Care Routine: Alternatives to Minoxidil and Products I’ve Tried
I tried minoxidil for beard and hair growth, but I was unhappy with what happened after I stopped using it. The hair I gained did not last, and I felt my hair loss became worse. That experience made me focus more on a consistent beard and scalp-care routine. For patchy beards or receding hairlines, I have explored routines that use ingredients such as rosemary, fenugreek, hibiscus, amla, moringa and black seed in carrier oils. Results can vary, and there is no overnight solution. Anyone experiencing significant hair loss should consider speaking with a dermatologist before trying new treatments. The brands I have enjoyed include UGHO Africa for its shampoo, balm, growth oil and beard-bump care; Brother’s Beard for its light sandalwood oil; and Beard X Butter for simple maintenance and a polished finish. My biggest lesson is to care for both the beard and the skin underneath it, massage products in properly and stay consistent. What beard-care products or routines have worked for you?
