Abia Police Arrest Four Over Alleged Theft and Sale of Four-Day-Old Baby

The Abia State Police Command says it has arrested four suspects over the alleged theft and trafficking of a four-day-old baby. Police said the infant was allegedly taken from her mother, who has a mental health condition, and sold to another person. The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation by the command's Violent Crimes Response Unit and Rapid Response Unit in Obehie on September 16. The mother has been released to her family for care and medical attention, while the baby is in the protective custody of the Ministry of Women Affairs. The suspects remain in custody as the State Criminal Investigation Department continues its investigation.
