Life Is a Game: Why You're the Referee, Not a Player
In 1925, Florence Scovel Shinn opened her book with: "Most people consider life a battle – but it is not a battle, it is a game." This simple truth reframes our existence: we’re not players but referees. Picture a football match. There are twenty-two players on the pitch, a referee, and a crowd of spectators. In life, your mind is the pitch, opposing thoughts are the players, your environment is the crowd, and you hold the whistle. Every moment, you’re faced with inner and outer influences. Angels and demons, doubts and hopes vie for control. Your job is to judge these forces and call the game as you see fit. Pass on this insight. Help others understand that life’s outcome depends on the decisions you make. Jesus is Lord!
