Tinubu, Governors Target Lower Transport Fares Through CNG Expansion
President Bola Tinubu says the Federal Government and state governors have agreed to take immediate steps aimed at reducing intra-state transport fares through wider use of CNG and electric vehicles. The government says more than 120,000 vehicles have been converted to CNG, while over 100,000 additional conversion kits are being planned. It is also funding gas infrastructure projects, including CNG mother and daughter stations, and has directed the rollout of 1,000 refuelling stations nationwide. A joint Federal-State committee will coordinate implementation. The administration says CNG vehicles can cut fuel costs by 60 to 80 percent, with the goal of passing those savings on to commuters from October 1.
