FG Transfers Inland Dry Port Functions to NPA as Shippers’ Council Becomes NPERA

The Federal Government has directed that Inland Dry Port functions previously handled by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council be transferred to the Nigerian Ports Authority. The move is part of a plan to separate port economic regulation, infrastructure development and daily port operations. A ministerial committee will oversee the transition of the Shippers’ Council into the Nigeria Ports Economic Regulatory Agency. The change follows the signing of the NPERA Act, 2026. The government says the new structure will reduce overlapping responsibilities and improve administration across Nigeria’s maritime and port sector.
