When Emotions Outpace Discernment: A Spiritual Reflection
One of the greatest dangers in our walk with God is allowing emotions and personal desires to drown out spiritual discernment. When feelings become louder than God’s voice, we risk ignoring His wisdom and justifying poor choices. God speaks through His Word, godly counsel, spiritual authority, and the Holy Spirit’s discipline. But emotional attachment can make us resist correction and view warnings as obstacles rather than protection. True spiritual maturity shows when we pause, pray, and welcome godly guidance. A teachable heart avoids unnecessary pain and regret. Whenever a decision silences wise counsel or distances us from accountability, we must seek the Lord afresh. Meditate: Am I letting any desire or emotion speak louder than God? Ask for a discerning heart that values His voice above all, and walk in humility, wisdom, and obedience each day.
