Atiku’s US Lobbyist Deletes Trump Commission Appointment Post After Tinubu Aide’s Response
Karl Von Batten, a Washington-based lobbyist hired by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has deleted a post announcing his appointment by US President Donald Trump to a White House presidential commission. The announcement, posted through his firm’s verified social-media account, was removed after Sunday Dare, a media aide to President Bola Tinubu, challenged its significance. Dare said the role was on the Commission on Presidential Scholars, an education-focused panel administered by the US Department of Education. He added that the commission has no responsibility for US foreign policy, national security, diplomacy or relations with Nigeria. Von Batten’s firm was hired to support Atiku’s reputation in the United States. The lobbyist has also advocated for the release of US law-enforcement records relating to allegations involving President Tinubu.
