Anambra Seeks Direct Access to Gas Reserves and Oil Sector Opportunities
The Anambra State Government has asked the Federal Government to include the state more fully in Nigeria’s oil and gas development plans. It says its recognition as an oil-producing state has not yet brought adequate economic benefits. The state wants direct access to gas reserves for electricity generation, industrial growth and job creation. It also seeks more training, employment and business opportunities for residents under Nigeria’s local-content policy. Anambra says it is pursuing private-sector investment, including plans for a modular refinery and expanded LPG production. The government argues that better gas infrastructure could power local industries and allow the state to supply surplus energy to neighbouring states.
