Why I Believe Amaechi Outperformed Oshiomhole in Public Office

I watched a recent television interview in which Adams Oshiomhole commented on Rotimi Amaechi’s record in Rivers State. In my view, his remarks showed a poor understanding of Amaechi’s emergence as governor and his time in office. Amaechi won the party primary before the court decision that restored his candidacy. I also believe his role in the 2015 campaign, as well as his leadership of the Governors’ Forum, remains more significant than Oshiomhole’s account suggests. Political aspirants often exchange sharp words during campaigns, and this is not unusual in Nigeria or elsewhere. However, I think Oshiomhole should address Amaechi’s record with greater fairness and a better grasp of the facts.
