SWDC Secures Provisional Licence for South-West Passenger and Freight Rail Network
The South West Development Commission says it has secured a provisional licence to develop a regional rail network for passenger and freight services across the six South-West states. The commission plans to work with Odu’a Investment Company and the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission on the project. Its managing director, Charles Akinola, said the proposed network is intended to improve movement of people and goods across the region. SWDC is also considering an energy-security plan, an integrated road link from Ore to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, and a South-West infrastructure development fund to support major projects.
