Lagos Diverts Traffic at Anthony Village Bus Stop for Road Reconstruction

The Lagos State Government has begun reconstruction work around Anthony Village Bus Stop, leading to a temporary traffic diversion in the area. The damaged section is being excavated and will be rebuilt with interlocking paving stones to better withstand heavy rainfall and flooding. Motorists coming from Fadeyi and heading to the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village should use alternative routes during the construction. Drivers intending to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane towards Oshodi have also been advised to remain on the expressway and connect through other access points. There will be no through passage at the work site for motorists travelling from Oshodi towards Anthony-Ikorodu Road via Anthony Village. Road users are urged to plan ahead, follow traffic directives and avoid the corridor where possible to reduce delays.

It is encouraging that the damaged section is being rebuilt with rainfall and flooding in mind, though the diversion will test commuters' patience.

Interlocking paving stones may help, but the real measure will be whether drainage and maintenance keep the same problem from returning.

Drivers using the Anthony Village area should allow extra travel time and pay attention to diversion signs while excavation continues.
